Château Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 2008

This is the most refined of all the wines from the Mèdoc from one of the five Premier Grand Cru Classé. The wine’s deep, almost-ink colour echoes the sunny vintage. The nose exudes fresh and tingling sub-notes of blueberry, cassis, mashed strawberries, along with a hint of anise. The attack is forward, precise, long, and commanding. The rich, creamy, and generously meaty mid-palate reveals clear-cut tannins commonly found in superior wines. The back of the palate offers an increase in power along with remarkably fine grains, while the rich finish fills the mouth with dark fruits and emotions. The youth of this wine flawlessly conveys the vintage solar energy. This wine ages gracefully and acquires a typical bouquet of cedar and spices with a hint of graphite. It benefits from a decade of ageing to open up fully and reveal its unique and wonderful style. Aged for 18-20 months in 100% new oak barrels made at the Château’s own cooperage. Grapes: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
