Maison Milhade

Milhade Winery

This family winery was established in 1938, by Damase Milhade who founded the wine trading company in Galgon.  Damase’s son Jean took over in 1947 and added an 80 hectare property, Chateau Recougne, to the business.  In 1961, he purchased a 50 hectare estate, Chateau Lyonnat, at Lussac Saint Emilion and in 1969, Chateau Sergant in Lalande de Pomerol. Today, Chateau Lyonnat is one of the leading estate in Lussac Saint Emilion.

…Magnificient expression of terroir and great precision in the vinification are revealed in this wine, which is full bodied, generous, sincere and age-worthy" La Revue du Vin de France.

The Chateau Recougne predominately Merlot based, was nicknamed by Jean Damase “The Saint Emilion of the Bordeaux Superieur”. This wine can also age beautifully. The style reflected in all Milhade wines is generous, powerful and balanced and true to their unique terroirs.
