Domaine Jean Pierre Seve

 Jean Pierre Seve Winery

Jean Pierre Seve is the fourth generation of wine growers in the heart of Pouilly Fuisse, the top appellation in the Maconnais region, southern Burgundy. This beautiful estate is located in the tiny, picturesque hilltop village of Solutre which offers stunning views over the Saone valley. The estate comprises 7.4 hectares of vineyards of which 6.2 hectares are for the production of Pouilly Fuisse and 1.2 hectares for the production of Macon Solutre. All the wines are made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape . The vineyards are divided into 17 different plots, the oldest of which were planted by Jean Pierre’s great grandfather between 1927 and 1938, with several different soil types, namely clay, limestone and marl.

Jean Pierre’s wines are of stunning quality and represent some of Burgundy’s best value white wines. All have won many awards in top competitions. The Pouilly Fuisse “Old Vines“ 2009 won the top award in Decanter magazine in the June 2012 issue among a total of 119 Pouilly Fuisse samples tasted.

At Jean Pierre Seve estate every day counts in creating wine. All steps are important, from the planting of the vines to working the soil, the care taken in pruning, monitoring the vegetative process, the grape harvest, ageing in vats or in oak casks and finally bottling. All of these steps require the upmost technical knowledge and knowhow that takes a very long time to acquire. The result is in the wines, which are wonderful and not to be missed!
